Period Poverty

Girls receiving their Sanitary products

With so many calls on our support in Nkuringo it is hard to be there for everyone all the time. We have helped tackle one important issue in the schools – Period Poverty – and tackled it head on with great success. Period poverty exists in all countries but is particularly evident in this
small community where even the most basic necessities are seen as a luxury. We are helping NECS by aiming to give all the pupils and
female teachers in both the primary school and secondary schools the support they need to get through their cycle with dignity. We are making re usable sanitary products using some of our recycled textiles. We have always said that our aim is to provide a level playing field in the schools for both girls and boys, able bodied and disabled, from every group and background
